Soma Institute graduate Tommy Jenkins opened a massage therapy facility, Thera-Massage in Evanston, Illinois, in January of 2006. Prompted by its success, he recently opened a second facility in June 2006, located in Winnetka, Illinois.
Tommy, a former college and semi-pro football player, graduated from The Soma Institute in 2003. Eager to begin his own business, Jenkins created a business plan with the assistance of the Small Business Administration Development Center in Evanston. He located an ideal area in Evanston and renovated the space which now includes five massage therapy rooms, and another for corrective posturing and functional fitness for both athletes and non-athletes.
The Winnetka location specializes in post-surgical rehabilitation, and specific sports injuries such as IT band syndrome and sciatica.
Jenkins has made excellent use of The Soma Institute's Career Placement Office. He hired several other Soma graduates so he "wouldn't have to worry about their credentials."
