Ellen became interested in natural healing and mind-body medicine during her father's battle with cancer. However, with a background in mathematics and science, she became frustrated with the lack of structure and supporting evidence in the complementary medicine field. That all changed when she attended The Soma Institute, and saw the potential in Soma's clinical approach to Bodywork, and how it could help build a bridge between Western Medicine and Holistic Healing.
In addition to Ellen's work at Soma, she owns The Healing Room, a massage therapy practice, where she works with clients in chronic and acute pain, using myofascial techniques, acupressure, and positional release. She believes strongly in educating and empowering her clients to reduce their stress, achieve a healthier lifestyle, and be a part of a healing process.
Through Soma's groundbreaking Master Program that Ellen directs, she promotes a holistic approach to health care. By teaching Eastern touch and introducing light touch therapies, from a clinical perspective, she enables massage therapists to educate their clients and conventional healthcare providers, about the importance of considering the effect of the mind and emotions on the physical systems of the body.
