Graduate of The Soma Institute

David began his own company Urban Decompression after graduating from Soma and provides table and chair corporate massage for many Chicago area companies.  In July, 2010 he will be opening up a permanent office in downtown Chicago in the River North area where he will also see his own private clients and those referred to him by local chiropractors.

As a result of his ‘deep commitment to the profession and the establishment of a successful company’, David received the “Rookie of the Year” award which is voted on and presented by the American Massage Therapy Association, Illinois chapter each spring.  We, at Soma are proud of David’s many accomplishments. 

We asked David about his education and career and he had the following to say, “Soma has given me an outstanding educational foundation enabling me to be secure in my knowledge base and skill-set which allows me to confidently pursue my career path in clinical massage therapy.  The constant support of the school with respect to my reference and placement needs is something that I have found quite valuable. Every day is different in that I work with a myriad of people, each of them with their own issues and therefore each protocol I put in to place is a reflection of their individual needs. The availability of continuing education in this field allows me to constantly evolve and increase my knowledge base.  Having come from a business background I have always been comfortable speaking to people and was ready to jump in and get started the moment I received my license after finishing school.”
