After graduation Mika began her career working in both gym and spa environments and
at the start of 2010 set up her own business, Shifting Core Mobility, in
Mika had the following to say about her education at Soma. “I found the education to be unbelievable, from the instruction of specific massage techniques to the depth at which we explored the sciences, especially Kinesiology. My clients are always impressed with the detail to which I can answer their questions particularly when compared to many of my peers.” When asked about her career Mika replied, “What don’t I love about my career? I really enjoy the long term relationships I have developed with my clients and the enrichment I feel from helping them overcome their pain.” I asked Mika about any obstacles that she had to overcome and was told, “One obstacle was learning how to manage my energy diplomatically. Massage can be very demanding emotionally and physically and it takes a while to learn how to judge what you can and cannot do. Furthermore I had to learn when to take risks in my field.
