Graduate of The Soma Institute

Shortly after becoming licensed, Morgan was hired by a wellness clinic in River Northhttp://www.soma.edu/_Library/docs/Morgan_Leavitt.JPG specializing in rehabilitation. She had the following to say about her new career, “My clinical training enables me to work on very challenging cases (and many clients twice my size!). I was also hired by former Soma grad Tommy Jenkins to assist in the development and coordination of the new downtown branch of his successful practice, Thera Massage. On the weekends, I attend to private clients with needs very different from those seen at either Thera Massage or the rehab clinic. I believe that every client presents a new experience that challenges my knowledge and skill-set.”

When asked about the effect her experience at Soma had on her Morgan said, “Soma provided a safe, supportive environment for me to develop the basic skills, knowledge and confidence that I needed to start on my journey as a massage therapist. The connection I had to my classmates and the faculty left a lasting impression that I draw from when building professional relationships with clients and other practitioners. Perhaps most important, I found that Soma instilled in me a need to ask questions and explore all the possibilities that spring from every situation. With that in mind, I returned to Soma as a tutor to help guide future therapists as they embark on their own paths of discovery, and enrolled in the Masters Program to fine tune specific skills that I want to incorporate into my individualized method of treatment.”

While discussing her new career choice Morgan responded with the following. “I really feel that being a clinical massage therapist is less a career than it is simply a way of life, which suits me better than any previous job I’ve had. My awareness of my own body and health has increased dramatically, and I’ve realized that I am healthier and more resilient than I’ve ever been. I enjoy being able to share my skills and knowledge daily with others who are open and willing to incorporate massage into their lives as well. And whether it takes an hour or a month, the best part is seeing a positive change in my client and experiencing their relief and joy right along with them.”
