I asked Rochelle what she was able to take with her from her Soma education and she had he following answer. “The most important thing I got from Soma was an understanding of professionalism. It is made clear at Soma that massage therapy is not a job, but a profession. I have come across graduates from many other schools and do not see in them the consistent level of the professionalism that I see in Soma graduates.” Rochelle was also asked about what she enjoyed best about her career and she said, “I like that it has been possible for me to practice massage therapy but that I have also been able to be placed in a situation where I can create an environment for other therapists allowing them to enjoy their profession. When I began my current position as Clinic Manager I really wanted to make the location I was in charge of a very positive environment for the therapists. I am also thrilled that I have been able to bring the clinical side of massage to my clients allowing me to help them move on with their lives pain free”. When asked if she had come across any obstacles in her career and she responded with, “My biggest obstacle was trying to find the environment that best suited my new talents and the situation in which I would be happiest practicing. After trying out a few different places initially, I came across the position at Massage Envy which allows me the best of both worlds. I can not only practice massage but also be a mentor to other therapists trying to reach their goals”.
