Faculty Excellence
Our instructors bring out the best in you.
At Soma, all of our faculty members are obsessed with the same thing... your success. From the moment you enroll until the day you graduate and beyond, our faculty members and administrative staff will do everything they can to put you on the road to career success. It's just one of the reasons why Soma's job placement rate, as reported in 2011 to the Illinois Board of Education, has reached 96%. The Soma Institute, however, cannot guarantee placement.

Mike Hovi: "I believe most everyone graduating from a Massage Program can perform a good wellness massage, but it takes a lot of knowledge and skill to properly assess and treat clinical cases. As an instructor, I strive to make sure therapists graduating from The Soma Institute will be prepared to use critical thinking to properly assess musculoskeletal conditions and then decide on how to best proceed with every clinical case they encounter."

Amber Mills: "It is my hope that our students walk away from Soma with confidence in their clinical massage skills and their ability to naturally help the body heal."

Lambert Caldwell: "I love playing a part in the transformation in the students’ lives. I get to see them evolve into professionals. The Soma education is special because you will be able to use it in multiple settings which make a Soma therapist valuable to any employer. I believe that we are body detectives and we should continue to investigate conditions and be comfortable with communicating with clients."

Rob Laubach: "I have been an instructor for 4 years and it has never been difficult to get excited about teaching future therapists the skills needed to be successful in this career. I am very passionate about this field and how it can bring positive change to the lives we touch. I hope my energy and enthusiasm transfers over to my students so that they will leave Soma with the same drive to help individuals needing a healing aspect in their lives. It gives me great joy to see the students develop their techniques and realize they can bring relief to those in need."

Amber Schultz: "I hope that students gain the belief that there are many ways to look at a problem and keep an open mind. I hope that students learn that responsibility and professionalism are tools for a successful career that can begin while in school. I hope that students always strive to learn from every perso

n and every situation. And I hope that students find something to love about massage therapy and cherish their time at The Soma Institute."
Martha Garduno: "I want Soma students to graduate with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to help their patients and clients to become or stay healthy. My practice philosophy is that I never think about impressing my patients. I think about how I could help them alleviate their symptoms."
