Master Clinical Massage Therapy Program Courses

Ayurveda & Indian Head Massage
This course introduces the basic principles of Ayurvedic medicine and its
philosophy of personal accountability for health. A seated Indian Head Massage
treatment sequence will be presented which can be used with clients who are
unable to lay on a massage table, or can be adapted into a table treatment. There is
a strong emphasis on quality of touch. This course also includes 2 hours of ethics
relating to working with energy & intuition. (20 Clock/CE Hours)

Clinical Aromatherapy
This course provides a strong foundation and working knowledge of the therapeutic
use of 15 essential oils in a clinical setting. The methods of extraction, major chemical
constituents, functions and applications of essential oils and how they work on the
human body will also be discussed. (12 Clock/CE Hours)

Fascial Techniques
This course introduces gentle and non-invasive approaches to direct and indirect
fascial techniques. These powerful techniques are capable of bringing about lasting
structural change to the deepest levels of fascia, allowing for more functional
movement patterns throughout the body. (24 Clock/CE Hours)

Lymphatic Drainage Techniques
This course provides an overview of the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic
system. It teaches students appropriate techniques to facilitate the movement of
lymphatic fluid throughout the body. Recognition of indications and
contraindications will be presented to the students. (32 Clock/CE Hours)

Massage & Medical Conditions
This course provides further understanding of common pathologies clients may
present with, discusses pertinent questions to ask during intake, and how to safely
modify massage therapy techniques for these clients. (24 Clock/CE Hours)

Neurofascial Integration
This course provides a unique overview of the nervous system and how it relates to
the myofascial system, and the subsequent development of movement dysfunction.
This course will introduce advanced evaluation techniques to discover the
underlying causes of clients’ dysfunction, and present specific treatment strategies
for clients with pain and movement dysfunction. In addition to neurofascial
techniques, core stabilization strategies will be included to ensure the clinical
massage therapist has a unique skill set. (32 Clock/CE Hours)

Nutrition
This course provides an overview of nutrition and healthy diet as it relates to self
care; and how poor nutrition can affect a client’s ability to respond to treatment. (12

Oriental Bodywork Theory
This course provides an introduction to the basic theories of oriental bodywork to
give students a new perspective on treating the systems of the body. Qi Gong
exercises will be performed to raise awareness of the flow of Qi throughout the
body. (24 Clock/CE Hours)

Oriental Bodywork Techniques
This course teaches students specific acupressure treatments and general full body
techniques, which build upon the knowledge obtained in the Oriental Bodywork
Theory class. Students will continue to develop their practice of the Qi Gong
exercises learned in the Oriental Bodywork Theory class. (32 Clock/CE Hours)

Positional Release Techniques
This course teaches students how to skillfully apply Strain Counterstrain techniques
by finding, and placing the client into, a position of ease; which gently relieves pain
and muscle spasm. A strong emphasis is placed on fine tuning palpation skills.

Professional Development
This course discusses the concept of massage as an integrated healthcare modality,
and teaches students the importance of the mind body connection. How to
incorporate new techniques into a current setting, or develop a new clinical
massage practice, as a private practice or within an integrated healthcare setting,
will also be presented. This class includes 2 hours of Business Ethics. (16 Clock/CE

Special Populations
This course discusses the pathologies, treatment modifications and contra -
indications involved with working with special populations. Students build the
confidence and learn how to safely use manual techniques with cancer & HIV
patients, and elderly clients. The class includes 2 hours of ethics on Standard V:
Roles & Boundaries, related to providing treatment for terminally ill clients, and
dealing with the death of a client. (48 Clock/CE Hours)
